Love Ain't For Keeping
The Who · 1971Recording
The track was developed for Pete Townshend Lifehouse project and recorded for Who Next with Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and Keith Moon. The album version was recorded during the 1971 sessions at Olympic Studios and Stargroves with Glyn Johns producing. Released on Who Next in 1971, it showed the band shifting Lifehouse material into a concise acoustic album track. The song helped balance the album heavier anthems with a shorter country tinged performance. It remains a notable deep cut from one of the Who most acclaimed albums. Earlier electric versions from the Lifehouse and Record Plant sessions have kept the song important to the archival history of Who Next.
