The Fatback Band · 1975
Recording

Recorded at Media Sound in New York for the Raising Hell sessions, with The Fatback Band credited as producer. The single was issued from the album as “(Are You Ready) Do The Bus Stop.” It became one of The Fatback Band’s best-known mid-1970s singles and helped define the group’s move toward a disco-funk sound. In the UK it reached the Top 20, giving the band one of its strongest chart showings there. The track remains a staple in compilations and reissues of the band’s catalog and is still the version most often associated with the title. Its hook and dance-floor orientation helped keep it present in later funk and disco retrospectives.
