Wanna Get With U

Guy — Teddy Riley, Aaron Hall, and Damion Hall — recorded 'Wanna Get With U' for their second album The Future, released on Uptown/MCA Records in November 1990, with Teddy Riley producing and handling the swing-beat production architecture that defined the group's sound. Released as the lead single from The Future, 'Wanna Get With U' reached number 4 on the Billboard R&B chart and announced the group's return after the commercial success of their debut, arriving at the precise peak of New Jack Swing's dominance of American R&B radio. The track reinforced Teddy Riley's standing as the architect of the New Jack Swing sound and demonstrated that Guy's combination of Riley's production with Aaron Hall's gospel-rooted vocal intensity remained commercially viable and artistically potent into the new decade.
