Anthem

Recorded in 1989 by the Essex duo N-Joi, with Mark Franklin, Nigel Champion, and Mark Ryder credited as producers on the original release. The track was first issued as a white-label promo before being picked up for commercial release. ‘Anthem’ became N-Joi’s breakout record, moving from rave and club circulation into the UK charts and helping define the early-1990s British house crossover moment. The 1991 reissue reached No. 8 on the UK Singles Chart after an earlier 1990 chart run. The track remained N-Joi’s signature song and was revisited in later remixes and reissues, including a 1996 version titled ‘The New Anthem.’ It has continued to circulate through club culture and later placements such as Grand Theft Auto V.
