Got to Have Your Love

Got to Have Your Love

Mantronix · 1989
Recording

The single was recorded for Mantronix’s 1990 album This Should Move Ya, with Wondress on lead vocals and Kurtis Mantronik steering the production. It was created as a late-1989 Capitol release during the group’s shift toward a more pop-leaning dance sound. The track became Mantronix’s biggest mainstream British hit, reaching the UK Top 5 and putting the group firmly into club and pop circulation. It stood out as the album’s lead single and as one of the group’s most accessible recordings. The song remained one of Mantronix’s best-known titles and was later covered by Liberty X in 2002. It continued to circulate in club contexts and in retrospectives on early-1990s dance-pop crossover.
