I Want Justice

Delroy Wilson · 1965

Recording

Recorded at Studio One in Kingston in January 1965, with Delroy Wilson on lead vocal and the Wailers on harmonies over backing by the Skatalites; Roland Alphonso also contributes the saxophone solo. Issued by Studio One and produced by C.S. Dodd, it stood as an early ska single from one of Jamaica’s foundational labels and entered the catalog of classic Studio One sides. The track remained a recurring inclusion on Studio One retrospectives such as Wailers & Friends and Studio One Ska, keeping it in circulation for later listeners and reissue campaigns.
