Red Red Wine

Tony Tribe · 1969
Recording

Released in 1969 as a reggae cover of Neil Diamond’s song, it gave Tony Tribe a UK hit and became Trojan Records’ first UK chart entry. It reached No. 46 on the Official Singles Chart and helped establish the label’s early commercial profile. The record remained Tony Tribe’s signature song and one of Trojan’s best-known early releases. It later served as a key reference point for UB40’s much larger hit version, which brought the song back into international circulation.
