Take Me in Your Arms
Kim Weston · 1965Recording
Recorded in 1965 after Kim Weston moved to Motown’s Gordy label, the single paired her with Holland-Dozier-Holland and featured an arrangement by Paul Riser. Mike Terry played baritone sax on the track. The record became Weston’s biggest solo hit for Motown and established her as one of the label’s strongest female voices. It reached No. 4 on the Billboard R&B chart and No. 50 on the Hot 100. The song became a Motown standard and was later revived by the Isley Brothers, the Doobie Brothers, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Jermaine Jackson, and others. It remains one of Weston’s signature recordings and a durable showcase for the Holland-Dozier-Holland sound.
