Hip Hop Hooray

Recorded in New York City during the sessions for 19 Naughty III, with DJ Kay Gee producing for Naughty by Nature. The track centered on the group's chant-driven hook and the Isley Brothers interpolation that powered the single. The single launched as the lead release from 19 Naughty III and became one of Naughty by Nature's defining crossover hits. It reached No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent a week at No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, turning it into a major rap anthem of 1993. The song remains one of the group's signature records and a durable party anthem. Billboard later placed it among the greatest jock jams, and its hook, chant structure, and crowd-participation appeal have kept it widely referenced.
