The Man Machine

The Man Machine

Kraftwerk · 1978
Recording

Recorded live during Kraftwerk's 2004 world tour for the Minimum-Maximum project, with Ralf Hutter, Florian Schneider, Fritz Hilpert, and Henning Schmitz performing the group's updated concert arrangement. The track documents the band's digital-era stage version of the 1978 composition from The Man-Machine. Released by Kling Klang and EMI in 2005 on Minimum-Maximum, The Man Machine formed part of Kraftwerk's first official live album. The release presented the group's catalogue as a precise multimedia concert system after their return to touring and the Tour de France Soundtracks era. The live version remains a key document of how Kraftwerk translated their classic late-1970s material into twenty-first-century performance. It stands as part of Minimum-Maximum, a major reference point for the band's later 3-D concerts and museum-stage presentations.
