Goldfrapp · 2000
Recording

Recorded in 1999 and 2000 at a rented bungalow used as a home studio in Wiltshire during the sessions for Felt Mountain. Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory wrote, performed and produced the track, with additional engineering by Nick Batt and Kevin Paul. Released as the second single from Goldfrapp's debut album, the song introduced the duo's cinematic electronic sound and Alison Goldfrapp's distinctive vocal style. A reworked 2001 release became their first single to enter the UK Singles Chart. The track remains one of Goldfrapp's defining early recordings and a centrepiece of the Mercury Prize-nominated Felt Mountain. Its orchestral electronics and futuristic imagery established themes that continued throughout the duo's work.
