Feel Like Makin Love

Feel Like Makin Love

D’Angelo · 2000
Recording

Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village, New York City, for Voodoo. D'Angelo handled the vocal and arrangement work, with Pino Palladino on bass, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson on drums, Roy Hargrove on horns, Steve Mandel engineering, and Russell Elevado mixing. It appeared on D'Angelo’s second album, Voodoo, as a stretched, groove-heavy cover of the Roberta Flack song. Critics singled it out as one of the album’s defining tracks, praised for its loose, behind-the-beat feel. The track remains one of D'Angelo’s best-known covers and a touchstone for the Voodoo sound. Its languid arrangement is frequently cited as an example of the album’s lasting influence on modern soul and R&B.
