The Rebirth · 2002
Recording

Recorded at Frogtown Studios in Los Angeles for The Rebirth’s debut album, with Loslito credited as producer. The original album release was issued by Kajmere Sound Recordings, and the track also circulated as a 12-inch single version with vocal and instrumental mixes. The track served as the title song and lead-cut identity for the group’s debut album, which XLR8R described as immediately appealing and called the title track “simply addictive.” The release drew praise in specialist circles and was noted for strong support from DJs such as Gilles Peterson. It became the Rebirth track most associated with the group’s early reputation, later described by retailers as a modern soul classic and a major Gilles Peterson spin. The 12-inch also found its way onto DJ compilations and radio playlists, extending the song’s reach beyond the original album.
