Crystalline Green

Crystalline Green

Goldfrapp · 2003
Recording

Recorded in 2002 during the Black Cherry sessions at AIR Studios in London and Goldfrapp's home studio in Somerset. Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory wrote, arranged, recorded, and produced the track as part of the duo's shift toward more rhythmic synthesizer-based material. Released by Mute in 2003 as the opening track on Black Cherry, Crystalline Green introduced the album's departure from the cinematic ambience of Felt Mountain. The track helped establish the record's sharper electronic palette and more direct lyrical tone. Crystalline Green remains a defining album track from Goldfrapp's early-2000s transformation. Its placement at the front of Black Cherry makes it a key reference point for the duo's move into darker, club-facing electronic pop.
