Forget

Shlohmo reworked Lianne La Havas’s “Forget” in early 2012, using her original vocal and lyric as the centre of a darker electronic production. The original song was produced by Matt Hales and Dave Sitek, while the remix was produced by Shlohmo and circulated as a standalone digital file ahead of the Forget EP. Released in 2012, “Forget (Shlohmo Remix)” connected La Havas’s early singer-songwriter breakthrough to the Los Angeles beat-scene audience around Shlohmo. Music blogs highlighted the remix for turning the original into a shadowy, atmospheric electronic track while preserving the force of La Havas’s vocal. The remix remains one of the better-known early electronic reinterpretations of La Havas’s debut-era material. It also sits within Shlohmo’s early-2010s run of influential remixes that bridged indie, soul and experimental beat music.
