Recording

Recorded during the So Much for the City sessions with producer Tony Hoffer, alongside the rest of The Thrills’ debut album. The album was recorded at Sound Factory in Los Angeles, Strongroom in London, and Area 51 in Dublin, with Hoffer credited as producer and mixer and Marc Carolan also credited as engineer on the release. Released in 2003 as the band’s second single from So Much for the City, it became The Thrills’ first UK Top 20 single and reached No. 18 on the Official Singles Chart. It also reached No. 7 in Ireland, helping establish the group’s early profile in both markets. The track remains one of The Thrills’ best-known songs and a defining early statement of the band’s sunlit California-inflected sound. Its chart success secured it a lasting place in the group’s catalogue and on later compilation releases.
