Shake Your Pants

Cameo · 1980
Recording

Cameo recorded Shake Your Pants during the 1979–1980 sessions for Cameosis at H&L Studios in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. Larry Blackmon wrote and produced the track, with Cameo's lineup including Blackmon, Gregory Johnson, Aaron Mills, Thomas Campbell, Anthony Lockett, Arnett Leftenant, Nathan Leftenant, Jeryl Bright, Tomi Jenkins, and Wayne Cooper. Shake Your Pants was released by Chocolate City in 1980 as a single from Cameosis. It reached number 8 on Billboard's R&B chart and number 57 on the U.S. dance chart, helping make Cameosis Cameo's first number-one R&B album. Shake Your Pants remained one of Cameo's key early-1980s funk records before the group's later pop crossover. Its chant-driven arrangement and dance-floor groove kept it active in old-school funk programming and later Cameo compilations.
