You'll Like It Too
Funkadelic · 1981Recording
Recorded at Wally Heider Studios in San Francisco for the 1981 U.S. release of Connections & Disconnections. The session was cut by former Parliaments members Fuzzy Haskins, Calvin Simon, and Grady Thomas with Greg Errico and engineer-co-producer Ed Barton. The track was one of the album’s key cuts and showcased the tighter, horn-driven sound of the post-Clinton Funkadelic offshoot. Its propulsive groove made it a standout for dancers and DJs at release. It became a major breakbeat source and was sampled repeatedly in hip-hop and related forms. Its drum pattern gave the song lasting currency well beyond the original album.
