Warm Sound
Zero 7 · 2004Zero 7 recorded “Warm Sound” for When It Falls, the group’s second album, with Mozez providing the lead vocal. Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker wrote and produced the track with Osmond Wright, working within the broader album sessions that expanded Zero 7’s live-band palette. Released by Ultimate Dilemma in 2004 on When It Falls, it helped define the album’s warmer and more melancholy follow-up to Simple Things. Mozez’s vocal performance and the track’s spacious arrangement made it one of the record’s clearest links between Zero 7’s downtempo production and soul songwriting. The track remains a recognised deep cut from Zero 7’s early catalogue and one of Mozez’s key appearances with the group. Its continued presence in streaming-era playlists and compilations keeps it tied to the mid-2000s lounge and downtempo crossover moment.
