JoJo recorded 'Leave (Get Out)' at age thirteen for her self-titled debut album, with production and writing by Soulshock and Karlin, marking her introduction as one of the youngest artists ever to top the Billboard Hot 100. Released in 2004 on Blackground Records, 'Leave (Get Out)' reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and established JoJo as a precocious new presence in mainstream R&B and pop, with critics noting the maturity of her vocal delivery relative to her age. The track made JoJo the youngest solo artist to have a number 1 single in the United States at the time, and it remains her signature song and a defining moment in the early-2000s teen pop and R&B crossover era.
