Donell Jones · 1999
Recording

Recorded for Donell Jones’s second studio album, Where I Wanna Be, and issued as the lead single with Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes featured on the remix version. The single was produced by Edward Ferrell and Darren Lighty for Untouchables Entertainment. The track broke Donell Jones into the mainstream, becoming his biggest crossover hit and a major R&B radio record. It reached the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100 and became a major UK hit as well. It remains Donell Jones’s signature song and the record most closely associated with his commercial peak. The song’s hook and Left Eye feature kept it in steady rotation on R&B nostalgia playlists and retrospectives on late-1990s/early-2000s R&B.
