El Bang Bang

El Bang Bang

Jackie Mittoo · 2004
Recording

Recorded in Kingston during Studio One’s mid-1960s ska era and issued as a 7-inch single on Clement “C.S.” Dodd’s imprint. The track is an early Jackie Mittoo Studio One instrumental originally paired with Basil Gabidon on the release. It stands as one of Jackie Mittoo’s early Studio One instrumentals and a strong example of the label’s foundational ska sound. The single has remained a staple on Studio One anthologies and specialist reggae compilations. The track continued to circulate through later Studio One reissues and compilations, keeping Mittoo’s early keyboard work in print for new listeners. It remains a reference point for collectors and reggae historians documenting Studio One’s ska catalog.
