Lay Lady Lay (with Gemma Hayes) [Radio Version]

Magnet cut the Bob Dylan cover for On Your Side with Gemma Hayes as guest vocalist. The single was recorded at Magnetophonic Labs in Bergen and Roundhouse in London, with Magnet credited as producer. The track was issued as Magnet and Gemma Hayes’s UK single from On Your Side and reached the UK Top 100. Its polished radio version helped push the song beyond the album cut, and it later appeared in Mr. & Mrs. Smith and The O.C. The duet became Magnet’s best-known recording and the version most associated with the song. Its use in film and television kept the cover in circulation well after release and made it a recurring reference point for the album.
