Sexy Boy

Air recorded “Sexy Boy” during the Moon Safari sessions at Studio Around the Golf and Studio Gang in Paris. Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel wrote, produced and recorded the track, with Stéphane “Alf” Briat recording and mixing and Jérôme Kerner assisting. Released by Source and Virgin in 1998 as the first single from Moon Safari, it became Air’s breakthrough hit and reached number 13 on the UK Official Singles Chart. Its vocoder hook and sleek video helped bring the French duo and late-1990s French electronic pop to a wider international audience. The track remains Air’s most widely recognised single and a defining gateway into Moon Safari. Its continued use in film, television, advertising and later covers has kept it central to the album’s long afterlife.
