Let's Get It On

Ken Boothe · 1974
Recording

Recorded in Jamaica during Ken Boothe’s early-1970s sessions with producer Lloyd Charmers for Trojan Records. The release credits Canute Clennon as arranger. The track anchored Boothe’s self-titled Trojan album and showcased his move into polished soul-reggae interpretations of American pop and R&B material. It reinforced his reputation as one of Jamaica’s most crossover-minded singers during the 1970s. It remains part of the Lloyd Charmers-era recordings that define Boothe’s mature sound and continues to circulate on later compilations of his Trojan work. The song also stands as one of his better-known album covers outside his hit singles.
