Swollen

Bent recorded the track for their debut album Programmed to Love with Zoë Johnston on vocals. The original release credits Bent as producer, with Simon Mills and Nail Tolliday credited as the songwriters. The track stood out on Programmed to Love as one of Bent’s most melodic and accessible pieces, and contemporary coverage singled it out as a potential crossover highlight. It also arrived as part of the duo’s early-2000 chillout and downtempo breakthrough on Ministry of Sound. Swollen remained one of Bent’s signature songs and was remixed by François K and Dusted. Its use of a Jeff Beck sample and Zoë Johnston’s vocal became central to the track’s lasting recognition.
