Invisible Pedestrian

Bent · 2000
Recording

Bent made “Invisible Pedestrian” during the 1999–2000 sessions for Programmed to Love, the duo’s debut album. Simon Mills and Neil Tolliday wrote and produced the track, with Jean Paul Braddock credited for sound editing on the album. Released on Sport in 2000 as part of Programmed to Love, it sat within the sample-rich, home-listening side of Bent’s early catalogue. The parent album drew critical attention for its mid-tempo atmosphere, melodic detail and playful use of found sounds. The track remained one of the better-known deep cuts from Programmed to Love after later use in Absolut Vodka and Dutch Railways advertising. It helped define Bent’s reputation for wistful, sample-led electronic pop beyond their charting singles.
