B And A

The Beta Band · 1998
Recording

The track was recorded for The Patty Patty Sound EP by the Beta Band lineup of Steve Mason, Richard Greentree, John Maclean and Robin Jones. The recording formed part of the sessions later compiled on The Three EPs, with the band and Chris Allison associated with production. Released in 1998, it was part of the run of EPs that built the Beta Band cult reputation before their debut album. The track contributed to the loose, collage based sound that made The Three EPs a defining late 1990s British independent release. It remains a notable deep cut from The Three EPs and a representative example of the Beta Band early experimental songwriting. The track continues to be valued within the band catalogue for its shifting structure and sample minded arrangement.
