Faze‐O · 1977
Recording

Recorded in 1977 at Paragon Recording Studios in Chicago, Illinois, by Faze-O with production from the Ohio Players circle under the Tight Corporation banner; Clarence Satchell, Keith Harrison, and Billy Beck were credited on the release. The title track of Faze-O’s debut album became the group’s breakthrough, reaching the top 10 on Billboard’s R&B chart in 1978. It established the Dayton band as part of the late-1970s Ohio funk scene and became its best-known single. The song became a durable sample source and remained one of Faze-O’s signature recordings long after its original release. Later writers and artists repeatedly cited it as a widely sampled funk track.
