Recording

Cerrone recorded the track at Trident Studios in London during the June-to-August 1977 sessions for Supernature (Cerrone III). The production centered on Cerrone, with the title track cut as part of his third album project. Released in 1977, it became the title track of Cerrone’s breakthrough album and one of the defining disco records of the era. It reached the UK Top 10 and helped cement Cerrone as a major European dance-music figure. The track endured as one of Cerrone’s signature recordings and a long-running disco classic. Its title later inspired Goldfrapp’s Supernature, and it returned to global attention when used in the 2024 Olympic opening ceremony.
