Never Like This

Recorded for the Backatcha sessions with The Two Tons’ Martha Wash and Izora Armstead on vocals, and produced by Harvey Fuqua. The track was issued by Fantasy on the album Backatcha. The song was the follow-up single from Backatcha and reached No. 55 on Billboard’s R&B chart. It gave the duo another nationally charting R&B record during their early Fantasy-era run. The song remains part of the Two Tons catalog associated with the group’s pre-Weather Girls career, and it continues to surface on digital reissues and streaming services. Later retrospectives on the duo’s catalog continue to cite it among the notable tracks from Backatcha.
