Keep It Up

Recorded for Alston Records in Miami as part of Milton Wright’s Friends and Buddies project. Milton Wright wrote the song, and the original release was produced by Seth Snyder and Willie Clarke. Issued in 1975 on Alston 3716, “Keep It Up” was presented as a danceable soul single and singled out for its strong arrangement in contemporary trade coverage. It became the album’s standout track and a minor hit within the Miami soul scene. The track has endured as a rare-groove and deep-soul favorite and has been sampled by later artists, including Kenny Dope. Reissues and compilation placements kept it in circulation well beyond its original run.
