Ravers Suck Our Sound (Hip Hop Mix)

Le Funk Mob · 1994
Recording

Recorded at Studio Plus XXX in Paris after Mo Wax founder James Lavelle commissioned instrumental material from La Funk Mob. Boombass and Philippe Zdar produced and mixed the track from sampled loops, programmed beats and studio effects. Released in 1994, the track appeared on the Mo Wax compilation Headz and the EP Tribulations Extra Sensorielles. Its slow broken beat and heavily processed samples helped establish La Funk Mob within the emerging European instrumental hip-hop scene. The recording remains an early landmark in the partnership between Boombass and Philippe Zdar before they formed Cassius. Remixes by Carl Craig and Nightmares on Wax extended its influence across hip-hop, techno and downtempo club music.
