You Can Get If You Really Want

Recorded in Kingston, Jamaica with producer Leslie Kong and Jimmy Cliff’s regular Jamaican session players. The song first appeared as a 1970 single and was later included on The Harder They Come soundtrack. It became one of Jimmy Cliff’s defining anthems: a bright, motivational song that helped carry reggae to a wider international audience. Its later association with The Harder They Come gave it far greater cultural reach than its original single release. The track endures as one of reggae’s most recognizable perseverance songs and has been covered repeatedly across pop, ska, punk, and reggae. It remains a signature Jimmy Cliff recording and a recurring fixture in film, compilation, and sports use.
