Do Your Dance

Rose Royce recorded Do Your Dance for the 1977 album In Full Bloom, during sessions at Sound Factory West and Amigo in Los Angeles. Norman Whitfield wrote the song with Dwight Turner and produced the recording, with Paul Riser credited for orchestral direction. The single was a major follow-up to the group's Car Wash breakthrough, reaching number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 4 on Billboard's R&B chart. Its extended album version and single edit placed Rose Royce firmly in the late-1970s club and soul market. Do Your Dance remains a key Rose Royce dance record from the Whitfield period. Its nine-minute album version kept the track in circulation among disco DJs and later funk and soul collectors.
