Do What You Wanna Do
T‐Connection · 1977Recorded in 1977 at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami, Florida, the single paired T-Connection with producers Alex Sadkin and Cory Wade for the Dash/T.K. run that introduced the Nassau, Bahamas group to a wider audience. It was cut for the band’s early Dash era, alongside material for the Magic album. The track was the group’s breakout record, topping Billboard’s disco/dance chart for seven weeks while also crossing over to the pop and R&B charts. In the UK it reached No. 11, giving T-Connection an international hit and a strong club-floor identity. The song remained one of T-Connection’s signature titles and has continued to circulate through later dance and funk culture, including multiple re-edits and remixes and at least one cover version. Its durable appeal is reflected in its continued use as a sampled source.
