Byron Lee and the Dragonaires · 1984
Recording

Recorded in Jamaica for Dynamic Sounds in 1984, with vocals by Justin Cassell and Morvin Brooks. Byron Lee and A. Cassell are credited as producers, and Leston Paul as arranger. The single became one of Byron Lee and the Dragonaires’ best-known mid-1980s soca releases. It was issued by Dynamic Sounds and circulated on 12-inch and 7-inch formats in 1984, helping define Lee’s carnival-friendly party sound. Tiny Winey remained a signature Byron Lee track and continued to appear on reissues and compilations. Its reach extended beyond the original release through later cover versions and long-running dance-floor use.
