Go Down - Machel Montano

Recorded as Machel Montano’s vocal for Mixpak’s 2012 Loudspeaker Riddim release, produced by Dre Skull and mixed by Ken Lewis. It was released on May 22, 2012. The track placed Montano on a Brooklyn-Caribbean dancehall riddim project rather than his usual soca setting, which made it a notable crossover release in 2012. Mixpak promoted it alongside voicings from Beenie Man, Popcaan, and Natalie Storm. It remains a frequently referenced entry in Machel Montano’s catalog and an early example of his collaborations with Mixpak and Dre Skull. The song continued to circulate through streaming and track listings long after the original riddim release.
