The track was written and performed by Angela Hunte and Machel Montano and recorded by Lance Powell at Platinum Sound in New York, with additional recording by Kasey Phillips of Precision Productions. Its original release credited production by DJ Buddha, Gregory Salto, Tzvetin Todorov, and Jerry “Wonda” Duplessis. Released on January 16, 2015, it was introduced as a high-energy soca collaboration and as the first single from Hunte’s solo project, while also appearing on Montano’s 2015 album cycle. It quickly became a Carnival anthem in Trinidad and Tobago and drew notice for its crossover blend of soca and EDM. The song strengthened Angela Hunte’s profile in Caribbean music and remains one of the best-known Hunte-Montano collaborations. It is still cited in later writing about Trinidad soca and Carnival culture as a defining 2015 anthem.
