Hot-Hot-Hot
Arrow · 1982Recording
Arrow recorded “Hot Hot Hot” at Eras Recording Studio in Trinidad in 1982, with Leston Paul producing the session. The track first appeared on Arrow’s 1982 album Hot Hot Hot, issued on Arrow Records. The song became Arrow’s first major international hit and his first chart entry in the UK, where the 1984 single reached No. 59 and spent eight weeks on the chart. It helped turn soca into a crossover party sound beyond the Caribbean. “Hot Hot Hot” became a durable party standard through later covers, especially Buster Poindexter’s 1987 version, and it has remained a frequently sampled and reworked track. Its hook has given the song a long afterlife well beyond Arrow’s original release.
