Sexual Healing

Marvin Gaye wrote the song with Odell Brown and David Ritz and recorded it in 1982 at Studio Katy in Ohain, Belgium. Gaye handled the production, with Gordon Banks contributing guitar and background vocals. Released as the lead single from Midnight Love, it served as Gaye’s comeback hit after leaving Motown and became his biggest pop success in years. It reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent ten weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B chart. The track became one of Marvin Gaye’s signature late-period songs and remains one of his most recognized recordings. It has been widely covered and sampled, and it is a fixture on best-songs lists about classic R&B and pop.
