Makelele

Released as a standalone Black Coral Inc single in 2016 and promoted with the official “Faluma/Makelele” video. The release paired the new track with Alison Hinds’s earlier carnival favorite “Faluma,” reinforcing its place in her soca catalog. “Makelele” arrived as part of Hinds’s 2016 output and extended her visibility as Barbados’s self-styled Soca Queen during the Crop Over season. Its release on Black Coral Inc and circulation through streaming platforms and the official video tied it to the contemporary Caribbean carnival circuit. The track remains part of Hinds’s live and online repertoire and continues to be grouped with her signature carnival records. It helps preserve the link between her later work and the earlier hit “Faluma,” keeping both songs present in her catalog and in Caribbean festival culture.
