Always Something There to Remind Me

Always Something There to Remind Me

Sandie Shaw · 1964
Recording

Recorded in London in 1964 after Sandie Shaw's manager Eve Taylor selected the Burt Bacharach and Hal David composition for her second single. Tony Hatch produced the recording, shaping a dramatic orchestral arrangement around Shaw's lead vocal. The single became Shaw's breakthrough hit and spent three weeks at number one in the United Kingdom. Its success established her as one of the defining British female pop singers of the mid-1960s. Shaw's recording remains one of the best-known interpretations of the Bacharach-David standard and a signature song of her career. The composition later returned to international prominence through numerous covers, including Naked Eyes' 1983 electronic version.
