The track was recorded for To the Sea during Jack Johnson sessions with his regular band, including Adam Topol, Merlo Podlewski and Zach Gill. Johnson recorded the album at his Mango Tree Studio in Hawaii and the Solar Powered Plastic Plant in Los Angeles, with Robert Carranza co-producing. Released on To the Sea in 2010, it formed part of the album that returned Johnson to the top of the Billboard 200 and UK Albums Chart. Though not issued as a charting single, it reflected the album fuller band sound and personal songwriting after Sleep Through the Static. It remains a recognizable album track from Johnson early 2010s catalogue and part of the To the Sea material that sustained his international audience. The song continues to represent his relaxed band driven style from that period.
