Take It Easy Baby

Take It Easy Baby

The Yardbirds · 1965
Recording

The Yardbirds recorded Take It Easy Baby live at the Marquee Club in London on March 20 1964 with Keith Relf on vocal and harmonica, Eric Clapton on lead guitar, Chris Dreja on rhythm guitar, Paul Samwell-Smith on bass, and Jim McCarty on drums. The performance was produced by Giorgio Gomelsky for the live album Five Live Yardbirds. Released by Columbia on Five Live Yardbirds in 1964, the track documented the bands early club-era blues repertoire before their pop breakthrough. It captured the Yardbirds as a working London R&B group built around Relfs harmonica and Claptons lead guitar. Take It Easy Baby remains part of the Yardbirds early live record and a document of Claptons pre-Cream blues period. The recording helps show how Chicago blues material moved into the British R&B club circuit of the mid-1960s.
