Rise

Speedy J released Rise as a 1991 12-inch on Plus 8 Records, backed with Something For Your Mind, Tresor, and De-Orbit. The record was written and produced by Jochem Paap during his early Rotterdam period before Ginger. The single placed Speedy J in the first wave of European producers connected to Plus 8's transatlantic techno network. It helped establish Paap's early reputation before his move into album-length electronic listening records. Rise remains part of Speedy J's formative Plus 8 catalogue and the run of early releases that led toward Artificial Intelligence and Ginger. It preserves the direct club focus of his pre-album work.
