The Ragga Twins · 1990
Recording

Produced in 1990 by Shut Up and Dance producers PJ and Smiley for MCs Deman Rocker and Flinty Badman, brothers from the Hackney-based Unity sound system in London. Part of The Ragga Twins' breakthrough as pioneering figures in early 1990s UK breakbeat hardcore, blending ragga toasting with accelerated breakbeats and hip-hop samples to establish a foundational sound that would evolve into jungle and drum and bass. An influential track in the development of UK dance music, with its fusion of dancehall, hip-hop, and rave elements providing a template for subsequent jungle and jungle-influenced producers; sampled extensively in later drum and bass and electronic music productions.
