Recorded for the 1993 album In God We Trust, the track featured Sadat X and Lord Jamar after Grand Puba had left Brand Nubian. The record was produced by Brand Nubian and released by Elektra as the albums third single with The Travel Jam on the B side. Released by Elektra in 1993, Love Me Or Leave Me Alone reached number 92 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 68 on Hot R and B Hip Hop Songs and number 13 on Hot Rap Songs. It carried the groups post Grand Puba lineup into the singles chart during the In God We Trust campaign. The track remains one of Brand Nubians main early 1990s singles and a documented part of their Five Percenter era. Its Bobbi Humphrey and Booker T and the MGs sample sources kept it visible in sample based hip hop reference points.
