Throw Ya Gunz The Air

Recorded in January 1992 at Apollo Studios in New York for Onyx's debut album Bacdafucup. Fredro Starr, Sticky Fingaz, Sonee Seeza, and Big DS performed the track, with Chylow Parker producing and Troy Hightower engineering. Released in November 1992 by JMJ, Rush Associated Labels, and Chaos Recordings, it became Onyx's first major single. The record reached number 1 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart and introduced the group's aggressive early style to a national audience. The track remains a defining Onyx record and a key prelude to the commercial breakthrough of Slam. Its shouted hook and hard-edged video became part of the group's lasting image in early-1990s rap.
