Found Out
Caribou · 2010Caribou recorded “Found Out” during the 2008–2009 Swim sessions in Wales and at Jeremy Greenspan’s Pistachio Studio in Hamilton, Ontario. Dan Snaith wrote, performed and produced the track, with David Wrench credited for additional production and engineering on the album. Released by City Slang and Merge in 2010 on Swim, the track formed part of Snaith’s turn from psychedelic pop toward fluid, club-informed electronic songwriting. The album was critically acclaimed, shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize and named among the year’s leading electronic releases. The track remains a recognised deep cut from Swim, the record that consolidated Caribou’s move into dancefloor-centred production. Its place between “Kaili” and “Bowls” in the album sequence highlights the record’s balance of compact vocal songs and longer rhythmic experiments.
